There’s been a bit of a dance around the director’s chair for Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Flash solo film. First Phil Lord and Chris Miller came on to write a treatment with eyes to direct, then Seth Grahame-Smith was signed to rework the script and helm the film. However, Grahame-Smith went out the door during WB’s post-Batman v Superman shakeup and the creation of DC Films. Now, a new director has come aboard: Rick Famuyiwa.
The prevailing theory was that WB was unsure about handing off a tentpole character to a first-time director like Grahame-Smith; although Famuyiwa is a relative newbie, he’s had success with the Sundance splash Dope and 2002’s Brown Sugar. Grahame-Smith’s script will remain, however.
Ezra Miller is set to star as the fastest man alive in the March 16th, 2018 film. He already made his (horrifically confusing, out of place, distracting) debut as The Flash in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
